Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the library have any job openings?

A: Yes! We are currently seeking a new part-time Library Clerk. We are looking for someone who can work at the circulation desk from 11:00am - 4:00pm on Mondays and from 9:30am - 2:00pm Tuesdays through Fridays. The position duties include checking in and out items at the circulation desk, assisting patrons, handling money, and record keeping, as well as other related library tasks.

To apply, please bring in a resume to the front desk by Friday, February 15th, 2008. You may fax your resume to us at 435-227-0032 or email it to Stephanie Harrell at s.harrell@northloganlibrary.org. If you have additional questions, contact Stephanie through email or by phone at at 755-7169, ext. 4. If you are selected to interview for the position you will be contacted after February 15th.

Q: Who can use the North Logan City Library?

A: While all are welcome to attend library-sponsored programs, access the Internet, or just browse our collection, library cards may be issued only to North Logan or Hyde Park city residents or property holders. Wondering if you qualify? Call the Library at 435-755-7169.

Q: How do I get a library card?

A: North Logan or Hyde Park City residents must provide:

  1. A valid driver’s license,
  2. Another proof of address form (vehicle registration, utility bill, etc.), and
  3. A completed library card application

Q: How do I renew or reserve my books and other items on-line?

A: To renew your books and other items on-line before they become overdue, click on the "search collection" tab found on the left side of the page, or on the bottom of the screen from the home page. Click on the "access patron info" tab located on the bottom left corner in Athena. Type in your library card number, which is found on the back of your green library card. Note: the last character of the 2NLOG0000... is really a LETTER. For example, if it ends with an O, type in the letter O, not the number 0 (zero). Enter your last name in the second space provided and press select. To renew your books, place a check mark in the space provided to the right of your library books and scroll to the bottom of the page to find the tab "renew selected items."

Note: If your books are overdue, they will NOT renew successfully online. Please call the library to renew in that case.

If your books do not successfully renew, another patron may be waiting for the item or you may have a fine greater than $5.00. If you need help with the on-line renewal process, please call the Front Desk at 755-7169.

(Please note that Inter-library Loan items may NOT be renewed online. To renew ILL items, you must call the library before 2:00pm and speak with Courtney.)

A: If the item you want is checked out, you may reserve it online. This only applies to items which are checked out, however. It is not currently possible in our system to place a hold on a checked-in item.

You will need to conduct a basic search in Athena. Type in the title and press enter. Click on the title of the item you would like to reserve and scroll to the bottom of the page to find the green tab "patron request." Select this tab and re-enter your library card number, full name, and e-mail address in the spaces provided. Select "North Logan City Library" from the scroll down menu and click "submit request" at the bottom of the page. Your reserve request will be e-mailed to the Library and you will receive a phone call as soon as the item you requested is returned to the Library. Again, if you have any questions or need assistance with reserving an item, please call the Front Desk at 755-7169.

Q: Does the library have wireless Internet access?

A: Wireless Internet access is now available at the library! We are very pleased to offer this service. Please read this information before connecting to our wireless network for the first time.

Equipment: If you have questions about how to access the wireless signal on your laptop or other portable device, please contact the manufacturer. Library staff are not able to provide technical support on personal computers. The Library is not responsible for stolen equipment or lost data due to equipment failure or lost wireless signal.

Security: The wireless signal is not secure or, at this time, filtered. Users must understand and accept the risk of transmitting personal or financial information over a wireless signal. We recommend that users who wish to transmit confidential information do so on the secure connections available on the library's patron computers.

Limitations: There are currently no time or bandwidth limits in place—this is subject to change in the future, if necessary. Printing is not available through wireless. If you wish to print, please save your items to a storage device (such as a disc or thumb drive) or email them to yourself. You can then open and print these items from one of the library's patron computers.

By accessing the North Logan City's wireless signal, users agree to the terms of the North Logan City Library's Acceptable Use policy.

Computer Users agree to:

  • Be courteous to other library patrons.

  • Accept responsibility for the security of the information they give on the web, such as personal information and credit card numbers.

  • Respect copyright laws and licensing agreements.

Computer Users agree that they will NOT:
