teens

Teen Advisory Board

What is the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) at the North Logan Library?  It consists of up to 15 teen volunteers from ages 12 to 17.  They are the voice of the teens at the library! You can join in by applying to be on our teen advisory board to help with leadership roles, communication skills, program ideas, and planning. We need you and your talents!

Our mission is to encourage youth to become responsible leaders through community service,  by sharing a love of literacy and designing positive opportunities for local teens to build connections.

We are accepting applications from July 1st to July 31st. By applying you will have the experience of doing a mock interview with the Teen Advisory Leaders. They will give you positive feedback about your interview process and pointers where you could improve. Then at the end of the interview process, they can answer any questions you may have. All applications are reviewed during July. Interviews will be arranged from August 5th to August 9th. We will contact you on August 12th to let you know if you made it. You will receive an email letting you know.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten: My first reading log

The North Logan City Library invites you and your child to participate in this fun, free program! Any child from birth through age 5 can sign up. You do NOT need a library card to participate. (You are welcome to sign-up for a library card but this program doesn't guarantee a library card.) When you receive your reading log, keep track of how many books your child hears from that point on. It can be any book, as many times as they want (each time counts!), read by anyone. This includes other family members, teachers, or librarians. Write down the titles in this log, or simply make a check mark on the line for each book read. Getting up to 1,000 books doesn't take as long as you might think! If you read three books per day, you will be done in less than one year. If you read one book per day, it will take under three years. The pace is entirely up to you and your child, but finish before your child starts kindergarten to claim the final prizes. If you loose your book it is a $1.00 replacement fee. There is a one time sign-up registration. We had a printing delay so program sign-ups have been moved to October 10th. You can sign-up anytime after that date.
